I feel like it's been forever again!

I probably should've looked at this blog first before posting more. I have no idea what point I was at when I last posted. Oh well.

Trainee period is going great, I've had fun and I think I've grown some confidence "as a youth worker" if I can say that. I'm always going to feel a bit like a little kid at my own church because I've been there since I was 14. I guess it didn't even occur to me that it would be different somewhere else. Probably also because I always get vaguely uncomfortable when I have to learn the workings of a new place or introduce myself to new people. As soon as I know someone there is literally no problem but until then.... awkward.

Anyway. I finished reading Lord of the Rings! Hooray, even though it took me like 5 weeks: now I can play the LotR books category on QuizUp. Yes, that has literally been a life goal for me. I've been so busy with traineeing that I've even neglected my Animal Crossing village for so long that I now dread going back. Oops.

I've almost finished The Hobbit as well, and then I can bring Silmarillion and Children of Húrin along with me to Tampere next weekend, maybe. We'll see.

All things considered, life is good. It occurs to me more and more often lately that I might be asexual/aromantic or at least the demi variation of either. I don't know if that comes from some weird, twisted form of self-pity or loneliness (although I don't feel at all depressed about those aspects of my life lately) or a legitimate orientation, though. I also wrote about this to A, and I hope it didn't squick her too much - I basically just wanted to throw the fact out there that I've thought about such things lately, since I have, and we tend to tell each other many things that we probably don't tell that many other people. It's kind of comforting, at any rate I'm sure it'll cause a cringe at worst, not by any means a fallout of our friendship. Ha.

Bye!

Hello from hamster cheeks!
So basically I had a surgery yesterday. It was only for the removal of 2 of my wisdom teeth, though. Half of my face was numb for the rest of the day, and basically like half of my friends either have done it just now or are going to the dentists' for it within the next 10 days or so... it happens to almost everyone within the same time frame. My cheeks are still a bit swollen, but it's okay. I can eat warm food now. I kind of regret the fact that I didn't ask them to give me the actual teeth, but whatever, they're gone for good now.

There's a huge sale week at one of Finland's largest department stores this week. My friend has worked there for several years, and he told me to look out for a sale on a box of Blu-Rays - the whole Lord of the Rings saga, extended versions. It only cost about the same as 2 regular edition DVD's. I'm pretty excited! Especially when I didn't even have to struggle through the whole crowded store to find it, and I could use the discount with an online order. I obviously had to pay postage, too, but it was still relatively cheap. Now we have those in case we're going to do a marathon!

The Desolation of Smaug was, apparently, released today as well. I think I'll have to go pick it up somewhere... we'll see if I can find an extended edition of that as well. Not going to lie, I'll probably buy a megabox for all of the Hobbit Trilogy movies as well, even though I'll probably buy each of the normal editions as soon as they hit the shelves, as well. Oh dear. Thor 2 was easy, because the DVD/BD's with extra features were the first release, essentially.

I've only played a little bit of Thief, even though I adore the game's premise. It just keeps lagging in a very annoying way, and apparently stopped accepting quicksaves after maybe the first hour of play. It's extremely irritating! I will probably go back to it anyway, I might just have to turn the graphics to a lower level. Ugh. It's starting to become noticeable that this computer's hardware was last up to date about 5-6 years ago. The newest high-quality graphics etc. games don't run so smoothly anymore. I also had a bunch of useless MMORPG's saved on my computer, and I deleted those in case that might make the game run better.

I literally have no time to post anything except on the weekends at this point! Well, what're you gonna do.
At least I'm enjoying myself.

I had my first volunteer patrol on Friday night. It was fun and we actually met some teenagers, so I got a bit of a picture on what's going on. I had great patrol buddies too, and it was kind of fun. I didn't get home until 2.30AM though, which ... kind of blew. But still. I survived, since it was the weekend anyway. I thought maybe I should try to go sleep over at my sister's sometime after the patrol - she lives literally a block away from the "headquarters"... we'll see.

I haven't posted anything about the camp either, have I? It was only a week ago but it feels like it's been forever. I enjoy working with the other interns, and the one who came along for the camp from the other participating congregation was a fellow fandom member! We had so much fun. I kind of wish there was a common thing we could meet at again, but I also enjoy meeting people who don't share my interests so obviously. It was nice to get to know the young adults from my interning church, too - we played lots of board games. The bruises I got from Jungle Speed have barely gone down, haha.

This weekend we had the Captain America thing! On Saturday, aka yesterday, we watched Cap 1 - and apparently I managed to spoil Cap 2 a little, maybe, because I hadn't realized that the identity of Bucky Barnes was kind of a plot twist/reveal... ? But really, most of my friends had apparently already guessed it by the trailer OR from the movie itself leading up to the reveal, so it probably wasn't that bad. I really liked the movie though, regardless of Sebastian Stan's ratchet weave, and I'm looking forward to what Marvel is going to be doing with Cap and the others next. I wonder if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will keep running as normal and totally disregard the destruction of the bureau as it disregarded Coulson's death? Or am I just confusing timelines, and AoS is just set to an earlier timeframe? I don't even know. Also, Natasha was a badass motherfucker once again. [aggressive star eyes]

I'm waiting for Thief to install now, I can play a little while before going to bed. I also bought A's birthday present for her dinner on Friday - a Divergent paperback! I just hope she hasn't bought and/or read it yet.
Dad brought me some chocolate as name day presents from a congress visit to France. I got 7 Kinder Surprises! Those are the best. Also I got a bar of chocolate that has to literally be like 500g, it's ridiculous. Pretty decent chocolate though.

Anyway, bye for now!
