Ah, this period of studying children and family work is over! Some more studies about Christianity are going to start next week. I should really get into emailing churches about that trainee period that starts in March... argh. I had an exam today that I think I did rather well in, even though I didn't start studying until 8pm last night. I'm glad the book was an easy read for me and the subject matter was fascinating! I also lucked out in the fact that I studied a passage about things that ended up as one of the two exam essay options. Aww yeah.
During our 2-week "time off" I watched 2 seasons of Pushing Daisies and got back into Game of Thrones! I only watched the first season regularly, as it aired in Finland, but I kind of missed half of season 2 and hadn't bothered to catch up at any point. Now they're releasing trailers and things for season 4, I figured it would be a good time! It's not like I don't know where the plot is going, since the show is so loyal to the book series, but still. It's so well made, I love the casting and all of the plotting.... glorious.
I also really appreciate how George R.R. Martin has written his women. Obviously, the society in the Song of Ice and Fire series is heavily patriarchal (especially in Westeros - Daenerys is creating her own society over on the other side of the sea at this point), but the women still have their own kind of power, and they're very ambitious. Often, they seem far more intelligent and strategical because unlike the men, they have to solve problems without resorting to violence or duels, essentially. And even as you consider this, the show and series also include Brienne - who basically is everything a woman in her time and social standing would definitely not be. Even Arya, the Stark sister whose destiny is for the most part dictated by herself, has done so by adopting a more "masculine" role in her own life.
What I also appreciate is how completely different all the characters' points of views are. Obviously the actors bring the characters and their personalities and struggles to life through a completely different medium than in the books - and again, the flawless cast and casting is also a big factor in how faithfully the show follows the character development and characters in general from the books. But in the books, where Martin essentially writes every chapter from a different viewpoint, it's just so different chapter to chapter. Marvelous.
I'm currently reading a book I accidentally found from Diak's library in Helsinki. It's called Why tolerate religion? by Brian Leiter. Basically it compares and judges different principals, ideals and values that tend to make the Western culture very "tolerating" about giving people special rights due to their religion. Fascinating.

It's been 11 days again! Oh God. Oh well.
Cue birthday money and enough of it to buy both Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Pokémon X. Also, A and all of my other friends made me a revenge manbook. HA. It had so many cutesy pictures of (let's be real, mostly Hiddles) my favourite actors, there were even some party king Thranduil illustrations.
Animal Crossing is very cute if mostly just a visually upgraded replica of Wild World - but I only started it yesterday, and there's a bunch of stuff you can improve and add to your town later, like a café and a hairdressers' which will probably make it a lot more worthwhile. (So far I've pretty much just witnessed the same sad puns about the fish species' names. Sigh.) I do adore the graphics, though. And a penguin citizen called Roald calls me 'ladybro', which is a definite win in my book.
Pokémon X is supremely adorable! I TALKED TO A LITTLE KID IN THE GAME AND MY TRAINER CROUCHED TO HIS EYE LEVER DO YOU UNDERSTAND? I CAN'T DEAL WITH THESE KINDS OF HEART PALPITATIONS, HAVE MERCY, POKÉMON. Even their running is an adorable tappity-tap. The game moves so quickly, though, that it's actually legitimately difficult to talk to some of the NPC's. They run around very fast and ... well. It's a bit of a mess. Especially now that if you use the "joystick"-type controller, your roller skates suddenly activate. Wut.
Also, when we had extended family over for my birthday, my cousin came with them. We had, like, a moment of reconnection over fangirling around LotR and Thranduil and Lee Pace. Also, she apparently has a Tumblr. and I don't know how to handle this information. I remember when I carried her around when she was a widdle baby and I was maybe 4? I don't know why they even let me lug her around (there's no way that was exactly safe, is there) but it's a thing I remember happening. AND. My cousin also gave me a link to a streaming site that had Pushing Daisies. In actuality, I had to skip that one and find another, because the stream providers did not agree with my mobile devices, but still - she kind of (hah) pushed me to find the series despite the fact that the USA version of Netflix is still refusing to function on my computers.
I got my birthday presents from R, too. I... I can't even? They're so perfect! I got a comic!adult!sitting-on-a-throne!Loki t-shirt, obnoxiously pink pyjamas with a picture of the Avenger men + Spiderman and the text "I ♥ BOYS IN UNIFORMS", and a thermal mug with Marvel heroes printed on them. Also, I was a weak spirit, and as soon as I found out she hadn't had time to revisit the store to check if they had Loki/Thor keychains for me, I ordered a Loki's Helmet keychain off eBay - I literally had less than 60 cents in my bank account after the purchase. Also, I put some money into the shares/savings account that has been kept for me almost since I was born, I think. Me and my family and my grandpa have put in a about 5 000 €, but as time has passed it has increased by almost 3 000 €. This is not about bragging, I just feel like it's a good thing to have in case I have emergencies or whatnot. Something saved up.
Anyway, I'm going to go debate internally between Tumblr., Animal Crossing, Pokémon, Pushing Daisies and the latest episode of Teen Wolf so bye.

We're approaching 20 posts! I feel like that's such an awesome achievement, oh god.
This year's O'Diako cruise was this week. I had lots of fun - my costume turned out great, and also warm even though I had to continuously go outside to cool down because of my duct tape binder but still - and we met some awesome people and danced a lot. Also, I got to eat at Montis and Max and I bought the backpack I wanted from Urban Outfitters. The only thing I'm a bit bummed about is that I couldn't really afford an awesome Marvel heroes face collage shirt - that would've been so epic to own! It cost nearly 50€ though, so the only way I could've afforded it would have been if I'd skipped on buying the backpack, and since that was basically the main thing I wanted to buy at UO it wouldn't really have made a lot of sense... maybe I'll order it online after my birthday or something.
Stressing out a bit about summer jobs and trainee periods (mainly, my lack of position for either of those). I always feel a grudge for my mother about reminding me of them constantly, but really again it's about my unwillingness to go for anything and reluctance to put myself out there even enough to make a call about an internship that the church will literally get money for, eh. Oh well. I'll try. I've been a horribly neglectful person and haven't replied to any of my teachers' emails about the interning positions. Ehehe...he.
I got my Thor and Avengers DVD's back from R! It was horrible, as soon as I lent them to her I had this really, really strong urge to see both of them for myself! I also gave her money, so she could maybe buy me some Marvel merch or comics, if there's any at the Disney store she's going to.
Today I went to do the last of the archiving work I was doing for my dad, scratched his car a bit (ouch) and planned our youth leader meeting for Monday with a worker from church. It's so calming for me to have a pre-made plan for these things so I can prepare myself mentally. I'm kind of a plan-oriented person who likes to agree on ways to do things beforehand, even though in some situations I can wing it as well. Mostly I feel a lot more comfortable - especially in unfamiliar circumstances, places or groups of people - if we have a plan.
Anyway, that's pretty much everything on my mind today! Oh, also, I have almost 80 followers on tumblr. now? I lost a few on twitter though, because I've been tweeting so sporadically this week. (Also, a good few are promotional / self-promoting accounts, and when I don't follow them back, I think they just go back to not following me. Who knows. I don't really keep track of who unfollows when - I kind of don't even want to know, to be honest.)
Time to debate between watching Thor and playing Super Mario 3D Land!!

I feel like I've gotten a lot done! When in reality all I did was watch a bunch of movies. I still feel an urge to go see the Hobbit 2 again. It's just so good, I can't even deal. Also, I'm extremely tempted to get the 3 blu-ray extended version of the Hobbit 1 at Anttila... I am a weak person, not sure if I'm going to get it or not but still. It would have the "...Kili, that's not an elfmaid!" scene! Do want. I'm definitely buying the most extended and special-features-including edition of DoS I can find, though. And Thor: The Dark World. It's official. Loki: the First Avenger is included in the DVD extras.
The weakness of my character was also demonstrated on Thursday when we popped into Gamestop - there was a single last copy left of The Legend Of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time 3D. The last copy. And it was only 35€! I couldn't resist. The game seems to be a bit of a pain on my eyes to play, but I love the way they've used 3D and motion detection technology for certain features. It also reminds me of the older Zelda games which are genuinely difficult to play - a feature which I thought to be absent from e.g. The Link Between Worlds. I'll see if the Hero Mode, which is available after the first play through the entire game, brings more difficulty into the game or if it's just going to mean that the hero's hearts decrease easier. Who knows... also, I never saw a sign of the damn Pegasos Boots in the entire game and I'm a bit bitter. Maybe they're also only available after Hero Mode has been unlocked? I saw them on a player who had much more advanced gear than me, so what do you know.
BBC's Sherlock's series 3 has started airing. The first episode came out on Wednesday and the second one I finished watching about 20 minutes ago. I can't say these episodes have been a letdown - but I'm also hovering at a point indefinitely outside fandom because for crying out loud, this is one of the British detective dramas I watch with my parents! The two first episodes have been extremely fan-friendly though. I wonder if I have to explain some fandom references etc. to my parents while we're watching them on TV later, haha. (Sherlock series 3 starts airing in Finland sometime in late January, so only a couple weeks from now.)
Subtv has also picked up Sleepy Hollow and Vikings, which I've both been intending to watch but just... haven't? There's also Hannibal (same story there) and then I really would like to start watching Pushing Daisies (let's be real - LEE PACE IS IN IT. HOW COULD I RESIST). My parents agreed to pay for a Netflix account though, so that's great, I just haven't been able to figure out how to work with the browser add-on that lets you view the US Netflix yet. But I will, because I've seen it working at J's house.
This has been a random fandom spewage. Bye for now! I shall consume the stolen delicacies - Ferrero Rocher - and waste some precious time reading fanfic in preparation of the Teen Wolf 3B premiere tomorrow!

I haven't had time (or the drive) to post anything after Christmas! Jesus.
Just came back from the New Years' camp at Korpirauha. This was my fifth consecutive new year spent at camp! Whoa. It was a lot of fun though, because there was a group of my friends, so...
We agreed to go see the Desolation of Smaug again on the 2nd (tomorrow, that is) so we're meeting up at J's tonight to watch an Unexpected Journey prior to seeing DoS. Ah, I just really love the movies! And I've discovered so many fun things and blogs about the interviews and other stuff that the actors do (such as the height editing and how that affects their acting etc.) I just feel like I'm even more hyped up about everything.
For Christmas, my parents gave me 250€ for the Nintendo 3DS and I got another 50€ from my grandma, so on the 27th I went out to buy some games with a friend! She had never seen Thor: the Dark World so I volunteered to go see it with her - it was only my fourth time seeing that at the cinema, eh. I have also been planning to dye my hair brown at some point so I just went for it and bought a dark neutral brown color. Especially after seeing the Thor movie again I couldn't resist being a little Loki for a while. Now I just need to ask J to shear off some of the tips of my hair so I can fashion it into a mustache on the Diak cruise next week.
The Ghibli marathon we've been planning will also be held from Friday to Saturday - 10-11 Ghibli movies in a row! It's going to be a lot of fun even though there are going to be some movies on that list that I won't really care about seeing, such as Tales from Earthsea, so I'll just amuse myself on Tumblr. while they watch those, I guess.
The first external game I got for my 3DS system (aka in addition to the pre-installed Super Mario 3D Land) was the latest Legend of Zelda release for the DS - A Link Between Worlds. I've played it through at least two story cycles and it's a lot of fun, if maybe a little un-challenging. Both the puzzles and the monsters have been very easy to go through. Still, the game is beautiful and I like traveling between Hyrule and Lorule. Also, the discovering and collecting of the lost Maiamai babies is a very entertaining side quest - if only I could already get the damn Pegasos Boots so I could shake them off trees and monuments! Argh.
Anyway, I'm leaving to enjoy some of the last chocolates I still have left over from Christmas.
